WHAT WE DO
Advocacy

Next Chapter Book Clubs
The Arc Williamson County offers several Next Chapter Book Clubs in the Middle Tennessee area for adolescents and adults with an interest in reading, lifelong learning, and making friends. The book club members, with the help of volunteer facilitators, choose which books they wish to read and discuss, as well as decide where and when the book club will meet. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer facilitator or a book club member please fill out the contact form on our Contact Us page.

Yellow Dot Program
The Tennessee Yellow Dot Program is designed to supply first responders with an individual’s medical information in the event of an emergency. This information can mean life and death in the “Golden Hour” immediately following a serious crash. To set up a time to stop by the office and pick up a Yellow Dot packet please fill out the contact form on our Contact Us page.

Education Advocacy
Education Advocacy Services include assisting students and their families to understand their rights according to IDEA, Section 504 and Tennessee State Law. Any student and his/her family who receives special education services in Franklin Special School District or Williamson County Schools or any student and his/her family that believes they are eligible for special education services is welcome to contact us by clicking here.

Future Planning
A future plan is a guide for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) to lead a good life as independently as possible. It can also help people with I/DD reach their goals and dreams.
A future plan is important for all families — especially when a parent or caregiver is no longer able to support a person with I/DD. Thinking about the future can be hard, but planning is possible and necessary. The Arc’s Center for Future Planning has resources to help people with I/DD and their families create future plans. You may also request assistance by filling out the form on our Contact Us Page.

Ventures
Ventures is a collaboration among agencies addressing the needs of adolescents and young adults with disabilities in Williamson County. For more information follow Ventures on Facebook or fill out the form on our Contact Us Page.

The Arc’s School Advocacy Curriculum
This training is designed for non-attorney advocates who are providing information to and advocating on behalf of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and their families in special education matters. Click here for more information.
